Built to Answer a Simple Question

The Toyota GT86

The GT86 exists because Toyota and Subaru asked a question the industry had largely stopped asking: what happens if you build a sports car around balance instead of horsepower? The answer was a low, lightweight, front-engine, rear-drive coupe with a flat-four boxer engine mounted as low in the chassis as it would go, a direct descendant in spirit of the AE86, the Hachi-Roku that built its own legend on Japanese mountain roads long before drift culture had a name for it.

It never chased big numbers, and that restraint is the whole point. Every input reaches the road with almost nothing lost in translation, a chassis that rewards a driver willing to work for the corner rather than one leaning on power to bail them out. It's a car built for road rallies and touge runs alike, equally at home carving a canyon as it is settling into a long, uneventful highway stretch, which is precisely why it has earned the following it has.

Comfort for the Miles, Support for the Corners

This car sees two different kinds of driving: long-distance touring and genuine road rally use, and the seat had to answer for both. The customer specified the Sportline R in Black Basketweave fabric with leatherette bolsters, our most breathable weave paired with a bolster material built to hold up to the ingress and egress of a car this low to the ground.

Given the GT86's tight cabin, an optional air bladder lumbar support was fitted in place of a bulkier mechanical adjuster, delivering real, adjustable lower back support without asking the seat to compromise on space it simply doesn't have. It's a solution built around the car's limitations rather than in spite of them, support tuned for the rally stage and comfort tuned for the drive home.
