Two Wrecked Toyotas, One Uncompromising Interior
When RPM Off-Road Garage set out to build a SEMA truck in just 30 days, they didn’t start with a blank canvas. They started with two. A wrecked 1996 Land Cruiser 80 Series donated its chassis, drivetrain and 1FZ-FE inline-six; a 2009 79 Series pickup, sourced from the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum, donated its cab and bed. The result, built by Steve Lam’s team in Monrovia, California, is a stretched, reinforced 70 Series pickup unlike anything else on the road or the trail.

Inside, the 80 Series dashboard was trimmed and reupholstered to fit the narrower 79 Series cab, and the factory seats gave way to scheel-mann Vario F seats, built to hold their own on long overland hauls and technical rock-crawling runs alike. It’s the kind of build where every component has to earn its place, and that’s exactly where we like to be featured.
